Mortenson’s Career Learning and Development program leads the industry in innovation, depth and impact. Whether you are just beginning your career or have many years of experience, we offer great opportunities to learn and build a rewarding and fulfilling career at Mortenson. From orientation to leadership development, there are numerous options to learn and grow.

Mortenson University
Through Mortenson University, we offer learning activities in leadership, interpersonal skills, safety, quality, technical skills, business processes and many other topics. We utilize a variety of learning methods including instructor-led courses, individualized on-the-job training, books and online self-study courses. Training is assigned by position and also available for continuous learning. Learning plans are structured to develop specific skills. Team members can select individual learning activities or entire learning plans by topic to create a personalized learning experience.

Mentors and Career Sponsors
Beginning on the first day and continuing throughout their career, team members are guided by mentors. An orientation mentor helps the individual get off to a great start as they learn more about Mortenson and the responsibilities of their new position. Throughout their careers, mentors are there to help team members learn new skills, offer career advice, and guide them through their career progression. Career Sponsors help identify appropriate project assignments that enable team members to develop new skills and grow their careers.

Career Management and Planning
The Career Management and Planning process provides a formal opportunity for team members and their supervisors to establish career goals, identify annual objectives and discuss performance. Through a combination of hard work, living our values and commitment to learning and development, many of our team members have experienced long and rewarding careers at Mortenson.
