Mortenson's Chicago Office Awarded Another Project at Valparaiso University
June 2, 2006
Chicago, IL - Mortenson's Chicago office was recently selected to construct the Valparaiso University Northeast Parking Ramp. The $8.5 million parking structure will be located on an existing University surface parking lot, and is to provide parking for students and staff. The design marries traditional materials and modern detailing to complement aspects of the adjacent university properties.
The structure will provide parking for approximately 385 cars, including grade level parking and four levels of above grade parking. The structural system will consist of cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete with a precast concrete façade and painted aluminum grilles.
Contractor mobilization is scheduled for June 2006, with construction completion by May 2007. Design Organization is the Designer for the project and is acting as the universities owner's representative. Carl Walker, Inc. is the projects Architect of Record and Structural Engineer. Other project participants include KJWW Engineering and Bonar Group.
This will be Mortenson's 2nd project with Valparaiso. Construction is expected to begin October 2006 on the $42 million New Union.
