Mortenson Awarded Chandler Heights Facility Project for City of Chandler, Arizona
June 5, 2006
Phoenix, AZ - Mortenson's Phoenix office is proud to announce the acquisition of the City of Chandler, Chandler Heights Facilities project. The $23 million project is a 113-acre site that includes 78 acres for groundwater recharge and wetlands, 31 acres for multi-use park facilities including a Community/Learning Center, and 4 acres for a future police substation.
The recharge site will consist of shallow basins, which will infiltrate high quality reclaimed water to the subsurface aquifer for storage and recovery. It will include the installation of underground reclaimed water supply line, construction of a reclaim water pump house and associated under ground water distribution piping system. This project serves as an important component to the City's comprehensive reclaimed water management plan.
The Veteran’s Oasis Park will include picnic areas, ramadas, trails and pathways, equestrian rest areas, a stocked fishing lake, and a 10,000 square foot Educational Center. The one-story Educational Center will house exhibit space and small gift shop, classrooms, and meeting spaces.
The third section will house the South Chandler Police Station, which will be a 20,000 SF one-story building consisting of offices, briefing and debriefing rooms, holding areas, meeting space, and secured parking area.
The project is scheduled to break ground on June 30, 2006 and has a 12 month project schedule. Carollo Engineers is the engineer on the project.
