Mortenson Chosen for University of Colorado's New Visual Arts Center

August 16, 2006

Denver, CO - Mortenson's Denver office is pleased to announce their selection for a new Visual Arts Complex on the Boulder campus of the University of Colorado.  The $38 million complex will house the University of Colorado Art Museum and the Department of Art and Art History.  The CU Art Museum will provide permanent exhibition spaces for showcasing its permanent collection, also known as the Colorado Collection, the only public art collection of its kind in the State of Colorado.

Ground will be broken in September 2007 on the 148,000 SF facility, which will be designed by OZ Architecture (Boulder, CO) and KMW Architects (Boston, MA). The project site is located in the heart of the CU campus and will replace the existing Fine Arts Building. The Complex will be designed to meet LEED® sustainable design and construction guidelines.
