Mortenson Awarded Camp Grove Wind Farm

Minneapolis, MN - Mortenson's Renewable Energy Group recently announced their selection for the Camp Grove Wind Farm in Camp Grove, Illinois. This 150-megawatt project is being developed by Orion Energy Group LLC and is Mortenson’s second wind energy project with them.
The project scope includes:
- 25 miles of access roads
- 100 turbine foundations
- Erection of 100 GE Energy 1.5MW wind turbines on 80-meter towers
- Installation of 61 miles of 34.5kV underground electrical collection system
- Installation of 9 miles of 138kV overhead transmission lines
- Construction of the 138kV interconnection switchyard
- Construction of the 34.5/138kV step-up substation
- Construction of the operations and maintenance building
- Erection of the meteorological towers
This facility will have the potential to provide energy to approximately 60,000 homes annually. Construction will begin in May 2007, with completion scheduled for January 2008. By the end of 2007, Mortenson will be responsible for approximately 57% of the wind power in Illinois.
