Mortenson's Phoenix Office is Building their Library Resume

July 19, 2007

Phoenix, AZ - Mortenson's Phoenix office is pleased to announce the award of the City of Phoenix Harmon Library Replacement project valued at $2.76 million. The Harmon Library will be a new 12,000 SF library located in Harmon Park in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. The current Harmon library is the oldest library in the Phoenix Public Library System, originally built in 1950. The new library will feature sustainable architecture with an environmentally sensitive design, wireless and digital technologies, a computer training lab, community meeting rooms, and a teen center.

Planned energy applications include “green building/heat island mitigation” construction and a web-based energy management system. The Harmon Library branch offers active outreach to the community with school visits, participation in community fairs, and involvement in the area's revitalization projects.  This project presents a great opportunity for Mortenson to build a great new facility to support the children in the surrounding areas. The design team selected is Richard + Bauer, LLC and construction is scheduled to start in Fall 2007 and be complete by May 2008.
