Mortenson's Froedtert Cancer Center Team Honored by WasteCap Wisconsin
October 24, 2007
Milwaukee, WI - Demonstrating that going green doesn't have to "LEED" to certification, Mortenson's Froedtert Hospital and Medical College Clinical Cancer Center team is being honored with the 2007 Big Diverter Award. The team has achieved an astounding 98% recycling rate for construction and demolition on the new facility, a project that was not designed with a strong focus on sustainability or with any intent to pursue LEED® certification. In conjunction with WasteCap Wisconsin, Mortenson's team set these high standards for themselves and has attained the highest recycling rate on a project in the state of Wisconsin.
Comprehensive construction and demolition waste management programs not only reduce waste, but also provide an efficient and cost effective way to deal with waste during construction and demolition projects. Mortenson's commitment to our communities and to fulfilling WasteCap's goals will significantly reduce waste entering state landfills and create new markets of recycled materials where they do not now exist.
The team of Froedtert Hospital, Medical College of Wisconsin, OWP/P, Sigma Environmental, and Mortenson celebrated this great honor and accomplishment at a WasteCap Wisconsin Talk and Tour event on America Recycles Day, November 15th.
