Mortenson Recognized as a Best Place to Work

March 24, 2008

Milwaukee, WI – Mortenson Construction ranked number one among midsized companies in Milwaukee Magazine’s April 2008 edition - "Best Places to Work" in Milwaukee.  The magazine worked in conjunction with MRA (The Management Association), a Midwest regional employers association and research firm based in Waukesha, to collect surveys from employers in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee, Kenosha, and Walworth counties.

The completed "Best Places to Work" surveys addressed nine subject areas including: pay, benefits, other perks, turnover, work/life balance, training and employee development, diversity, community involvement, and employee feedback.  Area companies were also invited to respond to a supplemental survey that addressed three special categories: managing a multigenerational work force, training, and employee engagement.  In order to determine the winners, MRA went through a detailed process including a scoring system, anonymous online employee surveys as well as interviews with employees, managers and executives.

In addition to Mortenson Construction’s number one ranking in the mid-sized company category (101-499 employees); they were honored in all three special interest categories.  They ranked first for the company’s ability to engage its employees, third for accommodating multiple generations in the workplace and eighth for training programs that promote lifelong learning.

“Mortenson Construction is honored to be named a "Best Place to Work" and to be recognized in all three special interest categories by Milwaukee Magazine and MRA.  Our ingenuity, expertise, and exceptional people are the pillars of the Mortenson Experience.  This award is a testament to each of our team members and their ongoing commitment of "building what's next,” said Mark Sherry, Vice President and General Manager of Mortenson’s Wisconsin Operations.
