Mortenson's Federal Group Awarded Project at University of California San Diego

Minneapolis, MN - Mortenson's Federal Group recently announced their successful acquisition of another project for the University of California, San Diego.

The UCSD Structural and Materials Engineering Building is a $70 million, 169,000 SF stand alone building for the School of Engineering.  The facility is intended to merge the areas of advanced materials testing with scientific visualization.  The new building is five stories including a basement and includes 73 individual engineering labs, offices, conference center, visual arts studios and a high bay fabrication suite.  Building structure is reinforced concrete and the exterior skin consists of exposed architectural concrete, glass curtain wall, plaster and ornamental sunshades.
