Mortenson Named One of Washington's Top Companies to Work For

July 1, 2008

Seattle, WA - Mortenson Construction is pleased to announce that it has been named one of Washington State’s top ten companies to work for by Washington CEO Magazine.  Mortenson Construction was named the tenth best mid-sized company to work for out of the more than 300 Evergreen State companies nominated for consideration.

“This is a great honor and something we truly take to heart. Our people are one of our key founding pillars, as we believe it’s the people that bring character to a company- making it more than just a place to work.  Generations of families have worked with Mortenson, becoming a part of our family and we hope that we have become a part of theirs,” said Mortenson Vice President and Seattle General Manager, Jim Yowan.

To compile this year's list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For, Washington CEO Magazine anonymously surveyed approximately 20,000 employees at 308 companies on such criteria as effective communication, training, responsibility and decision-making, performance standards, rewards and recognition, benefits, leadership, work environment, hiring and retention, and corporate culture. The overall rankings appear in the magazine’s July issue in four categories – large, medium, small and non-profit companies.

“The companies included in the list have demonstrated that they value their employees and their contributions to overall success,” said Bob Ritter, publisher and chief executive officers of the magazine. “Our evaluation is extensive. It included surveys of both employees and management and review by a distinguished group of human resource professionals.”

All 100 companies were honored on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the Washington State Convention Center with dinner, music and a celebration of success.
