Mortenson Breaks Ground on Providence Everett Medical Center Tower
September 30, 2008
Seattle, WA - Mortenson's Seattle office recently celebrated breaking ground on what will be Providence Regional Medical Center’s largest tower.
Held on the roof top of the medical center’s new $40 million parking garage, the event featured music, family activities and Providence CEO Dave Brooks operating the groundbreaking backhoe. Barbecue lunch was served in hard hats while families celebrated the beginning of this momentous project.
“Breaking ground on Providence’s new tower is a significant sign of the growth of the Everett area,” said Michael Harder, Mortenson General Manager for Healthcare. “This addition will escalate the Everett location to one of the most accommodating medical centers in the nation.”
The $500 million project is the largest construction project in Providence Health & Services’ 103-year history. The new 12-story, 680,000 square foot facility will house 368 beds with larger rooms than the national average. The medical center will play a vital role in Snohomish County healthcare, where population is expected to reach one million within 20 years.
Providence Regional Medical Center Everett is slated for completion in August 2011.
