November 3, 2009

Shanghai, China - Mortenson China is pleased to announce our engagement by AEG (Anschutz Entertainment Group) and the NBA to provide program management services on the $350-million Shanghai World EXPO Performing Art Center (“SWEPAC”) Project.

The Shanghai World Expo Performing Arts Center is located in the center of the 2010 World Expo site as one of four new venues being built for the 2010 World Expo. When completed, it will resemble a flying saucer resting on the eastern bank of the Huangpu River.

The Center, with total gross floor area of 126,000m2, (134M sf)  will have a seating capacity of 18,000, two levels of luxury suites, VIP clubs and river view restaurants, along with 20,000m2 retail area beneath the Arena and an ice skating, a music theater and cinemas, positioning itself to become the new and most attractive lifestyle and entertainment destination in Shanghai.

AEG, one of Mortenson’s valuable existing customers, formed a joint venture with NBA in October 2008, jointly pursuing the opportunities of operating sports and entertainment facilities in China.  SWEPAC is one of the venues that AEG/NBA JV will operate.

Following through with Mortenson's philosophy of serving our customers anywhere in the world, the Mortenson China team was appointed by AEG in October 2008 to act as its program manager to manage the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning process on AEG’s behalf to ensure the venue to be designed and constructed in compliance with AEG’s standards for world-class arenas. With our efforts during the last 11 months, the project is well on its way to become the best venue in China, with its opening day scheduled to be May 1st, 2010, the commencement date of the 2010 World EXPO in Shanghai.
