Mortenson Awarded Brigade Combat Team (BCT) Barracks Complex at Fort Lewis

Fort Worth, TX - The Fort Worth District of the US Army Corps of Engineers awarded Mortenson's Federal Contracting Group a $19.9 million design-build contract for a new Brigade Combat Team (BCT) Barracks Complex (Increments III and IV, North Fort), at Fort Lewis, Washington. Fort Lewis is located approximately 50 miles south of Seattle.

The new project involves the design and construction of two barracks buildings totaling 97,913 square feet.and accommodating 276 unaccompanied/single personnel. Each soldier will have their own living/sleeping/storage area and will share kitchen/laundry and bathroom areas with one other soldier. Each building will also have its own central lobby, vending and mail distribution areas.

These new barracks will ultimately achieve LEED® Silver certification, incorporating sustainable design features such as energy efficient mechanical systems, reduced water usage, recycled or regional materials, and effective use of daylight in occupied spaces.

Mortenson has been constructing major facilities at Fort Lewis for more than 25 years.
