Mortenson Selected to Build Maricopa County Library

January 8, 2009

Phoenix, AZ - Mortenson's Phoenix Office is happy to announce our  selection of the Design-Build team of Mortenson/DWL Architects/GRAEF Engineers for the Maricopa County Library District (MCLD) White Tank Branch Library Project!

In a very competitive qualifications based process, the Mortenson/DWL team was short-listed and awarded the project against 25 other qualified Design-Build teams.

The construction budget is $8 million and the commencement of construction will be in July 2009, with a planned finish in July 2010. The library is planned to be energy self-sufficient, producing all required electricity on-site and will pursue LEED Gold certification.

Mortenson/DWL has completed five projects together, the most recent being the Polly Rosenbaum State Archives and History Building. Our expertise was demonstrating through our long list of library, LEED, and renewable energy projects.

In order to deliver an energy self-sufficient library, the Mortenson/DWL team brought renewable energy consultant, Ameresco to the project. Ameresco brought worldwide knowledge and experience with renewable energy projects, including preliminary anaylsis of conceptual design concepts, energy production validation analysis, and a understanding of the investment necessary to build this project as an energy self-sufficient library.
