April Ground Breaking Scheduled for Hoosier Wind Park

February 16, 2009

Minneapolis, MN - Mortenson’s Renewable Energy Groups (REG) was selected by enXco, Inc. to be the EPC/BOP contractor on Hoosier Wind Park. Located in Fowler, Indiana, Hoosier is the fourteenth wind power facility the REG will construct for enXco since 2001 totaling over $400 million.

An April 17th ground breaking and blade signing ceremony is scheduled for the 103-megawatt Hoosier Project. The event will include local and state dignitaries including Indiana’s Lt. Governor, Becky Skillman. Representatives from Mortenson, enXco, and Indiana Power and Light will also be present.

Mortenson will erect 53 REpower turbines on 80-meter towers across 20 square miles of central Indiana farmland. Mortenson brings unprecedented experience with REpower turbines to the Hoosier project.  Though popular throughout Europe, Hoosier is only the third wind farm in the United States to use REpower turbines. Mortenson also constructed the only other two REpower farms (Goodnoe Wind Project in Goldendale, Washington, and Shiloh Wind Farm Phase II in Bird’s Landing, California) in the United States
