Denver, CO - Mortenson Construction is pleased to announce that the company has been selected to build the new Company Operations Facilities at Fort Carson Army Base on behalf of the Army Corps of Engineers. The new LEED Gold, $70 million complex, will include six buildings ranging from 55,000 to 89,000 square feet each, and will be located adjacent to the 47th Infantry Division Tactical Equipment Maintenance Facilities (TEMF) buildings.
Mortenson’s design-build team includes the Minneapolis office of LEO A DALY for architecture, structural engineering and project management services, PBS&J for civil design services, U.S. Engineering with McGrath for mechanical and plumbing design-build and Dynalectric with LEO A DALY for electrical design-build.
“Based on the outstanding team that is in place and the team’s ability to meet the requirements and requests of the Army Corp of Engineers, we have been selected for these new types of facilities that will serve Fort Carson and its personnel,” said Bob Hansen, Vice President of Mortenson. “We’re looking forward to working with LEO A DALY to complete another very successful project.”
The Company Operations Facility (COF) buildings are designed and configured to accommodate numerous U.S. Army companies ranging in size from 100 to 250 soldiers per company. Each COF consists of three distinct elements: Readiness Module, Administrative Module and Covered Hardstand area. Company command offices, platoon offices, and conference rooms within the administrative area support individual companies. A covered hardstand area is also provided at the rear of each of the six COF buildings to facilitate troop transportation. The facilities will incorporate sustainable features such as enhanced building thermal envelope, water-conserving plumbing fixtures, energy-saving mechanical equipment, and lighting fixtures that are controlled by daylight and occupancy sensors.
Mortenson is also currently working with LEO A DALY on the newest TEMFs at Fort Carson, with design underway and construction scheduled to begin in July.
“The facility is designed to be economical, durable, versatile and flexible enough in its use to serve the evolving needs of the United States Army,” said Charles Ault, LEO A DALY Minneapolis’ Managing Principal.
