Chicago Gains New Customer and Architectural Relationship

January 5, 2010

Chicago, IL - In late August 2009, Chicago received the exciting news that Mortenson was selected as one of five firms to provide CMc (Construction Manager as Constructor) services under a Region-Wide Indefinite Delivery & Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Contract to the General Services Administration (GSA), Region 5 which includes Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota.

We are extremely pleased to announce that we have been awarded our first Task Order under the IDIQ Contract. The GSA has selected Mortenson to provide CMc services for the modernization of 10 W. Jackson, 18 W. Jackson and 230 South State Street located in downtown Chicago.

This $17.6 million modernization project is being funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The ARRA funding allocated to this project has been designated for “High Performance Green Building” projects. This project includes a modernization plan that will prepare the 100 year old building to be backfilled with federal tenants, meeting the operational and expansion needs of the Department of Labor, U.S. Tax Court and other agencies. Also included is upgrading the facility to meet the Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility (ABAAS) requirements, improving security throughout the facility, and enhancing the building’s operations to meet modern day building and energy performance requirements while achieving LEED® silver certification.

Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2010. 4240 Architecture is our design partner.
