July 7, 2010

Denver, CO — Mortenson Construction is pleased to announce that the company has started construction on the newest medical facility at Denver Health.  Heery International is serving as the design-build architect for the project, which will comprise a four-story, 78,000 square foot facility located at 7th and Delaware Street.

“Mortenson is proud of our ability to provide outstanding medical facilities to our customers, as well as the local community as a whole,” said Bob Hansen, vice president of Mortenson in Denver.  “We’ve established a high level of expertise when it comes to the construction of medical buildings, regardless of their size, scope or scale, and we’re looking forward to delivering a successful new medical facility to Denver Health.”

The facility, which is slated for completion in late 2011, will include an outpatient dialysis center, an outpatient procedure center, enrollment services and a floor dedicated to inpatient and outpatient adolescent psychiatry.  The 16-bed Inpatient Adolescent Psychiatric Unit will serve children and adolescents, between eight and 17 years of age, and families dealing with significant emotional and behavioral issues. The Substance Abuse Treatment Education and Prevention program will also be located in the facility providing drug and alcohol treatment for adolescents.

"With this new facility, children and adolescents in need of mental health assistance will finally have a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to their care,” said Robert House, M.D., director, Behavioral Health Services.
