Mortenson Selected for Miller Park Renovations
August 6, 2010
Milwaukee, WI — Mortenson was selected to complete multiple renovation projects at Miller Park in Milwaukee. Partnering with Miller Park and the Milwaukee Brewers over the past year, Mortenson has completed two renovation projects, and is now preparing to start work on a third project at Miller Park. Totaled, the projects equal over $12.5 million.
Batter's Eye Replacement
This project was completed during the 2009-2010 off season and included an upgrade to the backdrop in center field. The upgrade included darkening the area behind the pitcher as viewed from the “batter's eye.” This creates a non-reflecting surface that will help the batter pick up the baseball coming out of the pitcher’s hand. The project included repainting the concrete surfaces and replacing the mesh screens with new material.
Roof Control Command Center Replacement and Relocation
The second project Mortenson completed during the 2009-2010 off season included the construction of a Roof Control Command Center. To prepare for the renovation of the scoreboard control room, a new roof control unit was fabricated to replace the existing wall cabinet. This new unit was moved into the new Roof Control Command Center located in a room visible to fans from the concourse. The unit controls all operations of Miller Park’s roof and has interactive video displays showing the current weather radar and video feed from cameras located on top of the roof.
Video Display Replacement
During the 2010-2011 off season, Mortenson will remove and replace Miller Park’s centerfield video board display. The current centerfield display contains an interactive light bulb display as well as 1,300 square feet of standard definition video display. This project will replace the current display with 6,000 square feet of 1080p high definition video display and will become the 3rd largest video board in the major leagues. The new display will require the scoreboard control room, located behind home plate, to be completely refitted with new control and editing equipment.
