Minneapolis, MN — The University of Minnesota has selected Mortenson Construction for the construction of a new 154,000 square foot Physics and Nanotechnology building. The project continues Mortenson’s long-standing relationship with the University that dates back more than 46 years and leverages Mortenson’s experience in research facility construction.

The Physics program of the School of Physics and Astronomy is a core department of the Institute of Technology with activities that integrate research and education. The new building will feature laboratories, offices, and collaborative work spaces for the faculty, staff, and graduate students of the Department of Physics. It will also house the school’s new Center for Nanostructure Applications.

Preconstruction is scheduled to begin immediately with construction slated to begin in the summer of 2012.
