Construction Writers Association Names Mortenson Construction Advertising Best Campaign for 2010
October 27, 2010
Minneapolis, MN — An advertising campaign launched by Mortenson Construction in May 2010 to promote its renewable energy construction business has been named the best advertising campaign of the year by the Construction Writers Association (CWA).
In its annual marketing communications award program, the CWA recognized the “Nobody Knows Wind Like We Do” campaign, created by Minneapolis advertising/PR/interactive firm Pocket Hercules, for its creativity by awarding it first place in the overall advertising campaigns category. The campaign consisted of multiple creative elements, including print advertising, public relations, event marketing, and social media. The Construction Writers Association is a non-profit, non-partisan, international organization for journalism, photography, and communications professionals.
Mortenson and Pocket Hercules received the award at the CWA’s Annual Conference, which was conducted in Chicago on October 26, 2010. The annual awards competition spotlights superior communications efforts by construction-related individuals, corporations, associations, advertising agency/PR firms and publications. The marketing communications awards are evaluated on editorial content, graphic design and effectiveness in achieving stated goals. The website and electronic communications awards are evaluated on content, design, effective technology aspects and meeting stated objectives.
As a pioneer and leader in the construction of renewable energy facilities, Mortenson landed on the tagline “Nobody Knows Wind Like We Do” to emphasize the company’s experience of nearly 100 wind projects, its construction expertise, and the close working relationships that Mortenson builds with its customers.
The campaign has appeared in wind power magazines such as North American Windpower, Windpower Monthly, Renewable Energy World, Recharge, enerG, North American Clean Energy, Wind Today, Windpower Engineering, and Windsight. Complementing the print and online components, the campaign reached wind power influentials at the largest wind power conference in the nation, the WindPower 2010 Conference and Exhibition, where wind power industry executives were invited to “get their wind face on,” in a specially designed wind photo booth.
"Our winners represent the 'best of the best' and are very deserving of this recognition by their peers," said Mike Anderson, senior editor, Randall-Reilly and chair, CWA marketing communications awards committee.
