Mortenson Selected for NexCore Improvements at Silver Cross Hospital

Chicago, IL — Just as Mortenson’s Chicago office broke ground on work for the new Medical Services Building (MSB) at Silver Cross Hospital, the company was selected to perform the tenant improvements within the facility. Located in New Lenox, Ill., the five-story, 182,000-sf building is being developed by NexCore Group and is the second collaboration between NexCore and Mortenson.

NexCore selected Mortenson for its knowledge of the building and campus and how it would bring advantages to the project by having consolidated management and concurrent delivery.

The contract to construct the shell and core is valued at more than $20 million. Construction began October 1, and is scheduled for completion in December 2011, one month after completion of the $270 million replacement hospital.
