December 23, 2010
Fort Leonard Wood, MO — The Fort Worth District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has awarded Mortenson Construction’s Federal Contracting Group (FCG) two barracks projects at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. These are FCG’s fourth and fifth projects at Fort Leonard Wood awarded under the USACE Fort Worth barracks (AIT/BT/WIT) multiple award task order contract. STV Inc. is Mortenson’s design partner on both of these design-build projects.
The first, Trainee Barracks Complex 6, Phase 2, is a $32.4 million design-build contract for the 185,450-square-foot second phase of a barracks and company operations facility (BCOF) complex currently underway at Fort Leonard Wood. The second, BCT III South, BCOF and Sitework, is a $25.8 million design-build contract to build the 124,300-square-foot first phase of a new BCOF complex.
Located in two different areas of the Fort Leonard Wood cantonment, both BCOF complexes are similar in design and function and will provide living, training, and sleeping quarters for new trainees. Each of the new three-story L-shaped BCOFs will accommodate 240 soldiers. Company operations spaces, including offices, classrooms, secure storage, and mechanical rooms will be located at the nexus of each L-shaped space. The 60-soldier sleeping bays will occupy the second and third floors of each leg of the “L,” with toilet, shower, and laundry facilities located at each end.
