Mortenson’s Sports Group Selected for Penn State Hockey Facility—Pegula Ice Arena

University Park, PA — Mortenson has been selected to build the new Pegula Ice Arena—Penn State Icers’ Division I Hockey facility.

Construction on the 225,000-square-foot ice arena is to begin in March of 2012 and be ready for operation September 2013. Construction cost is estimated at $70 million dollars for this 6,000 seat arena with two ice sheets. A private donor gifted $88 million to construct the new hockey facility, which is the largest single donation Penn State has ever received.

The architectural team for this project is Crawford Architects from Kansas City, MO and Bohlin Cywinski Jackson (BCJ) from Wilkes Barre, PA.
