Mortenson Construction: Research Identifies Higher Education Industry and Facilities Trends
October 13, 2011
Minneapolis, MN—Mortenson Construction today released findings from its “Higher Education Industry and Facilities Trends” study. The study incorporates feedback from educators, planners, administrators, consultants and architects at the 2011 Society of College and University Planning Conference in order to identify the challenges and opportunities facing higher education institutions. Mortenson’s findings shed light into the current state of higher education, and also highlight the impacts of current trends on campus management, design and construction.
Higher education institutions play an important role in advancing our society by both creating knowledge and opening students to that knowledge. The current challenges placed on higher education are great as America strives to compete in a global marketplace, restore economic vitality, address energy and environmental concerns, and adjust to meaningful cultural and demographic shifts.
“We are excited to provide our findings to customers and business partners in the hope that it brings a deeper level of understanding regarding industry trends in higher education, and helps in their thinking regarding the role of facilities on today’s campuses,” said Steve Pekala, manager of market intelligence at Mortenson.
Mortenson regularly conducts industry studies in order to support alignment with owner and partner sentiments. The company aims to be in lockstep with the voice of the customer, resulting in a design, construction and transition experience second-to-none.
