One of our goals is to leverage our knowledge in virtual design and construction to help advance the building practices of the AEC industry. Over the years, Mortenson has partnered with outside organizations, academic institutions, and non-profit foundations to increase education and research efforts in the promotion of VDC within the international building community. In the Beginning: Building the "Unbuildable" Walt Disney Concert Hall We partnered with Stanford University and Walt Disney Imagineering, when we were challenged to build the "unbuildable." Collaboration: Working to Set the Standard Mortenson teams up with industry experts to help develop the ultimate BIM guide. Independent Study: Measuring the Impact of VDC An independent source compares two very similar projects, one built by Mortenson using virtual design & construction, the other by a competitor. Below are some of the ongoing VDC research and knowledge sharing endeavors that Mortenson has been involved in over the last decade. We are always looking to push the envelope of the building industry and seeking new partnerships with those who share our passion for advancement and innovation.
Every year since 2005 - except one - Mortenson has won a national AIA BIM award. We think that's pretty exciting. It helps us to continually challenge ourselves to find new and better ways to apply VDC tools and processes.
