Industry Leadership
Sharing What We\'ve Learned

One of our goals is to leverage our knowledge in virtual design and construction to help advance the building practices of the AEC industry. Over the years, Mortenson has partnered with outside organizations, academic institutions, and non-profit foundations to increase education and research efforts in the promotion of VDC within the international building community.

An independent source compares two very similar projects, one built by Mortenson using virtual design & construction, the other by a competitor.

Below are some of the ongoing VDC research and knowledge sharing endeavors that Mortenson has been involved in over the last decade. We are always looking to push the envelope of the building industry and seeking new partnerships with those who share our passion for advancement and innovation.

Building Information Modeling Awards

Every year since 2005 - except one - Mortenson has won a national AIA BIM award. We think that's pretty exciting. It helps us to continually challenge ourselves to find new and better ways to apply VDC tools and processes.

2006 AIA BIM Award Denver Art Museum
2007 AIA BIM Award Benjamin D. Hall Interdisciplinary Research Building, Design/Delivery Process Innovation using BIM
2008 Fiatech CETI Honorable Mention Research 2, Design/Delivery Process Innovation using BIM
2009 AIA BIM Award Cornerstone Art Center, Creating Stellar Architecture Using BIM
2010 AIA BIM Award The Medical Center, Design/Delivery Process Innovation using BIM
