United Airlines Club Renovation at O'Hare / ChicagoIL

Mortenson completed renovations for the United Airlines B-18 Club in Terminal 1 at O’Hare Airport. The space underwent extensive demolition before receiving upgrades to the lounge, food service, and bar areas as well as the ticketing desk, concierge space, and restrooms. During demolition, a temporary fence was installed and a security guard was hired to ensure passengers were not at risk. Noisy or dusty work was completed after hours to avoid any impact on daily operations.

High-end finishes were provided throughout to give the club a fresh, modern aesthetic. Various stone elements were featured in the design—such as accent walls in the main area and bathrooms, stone-clad seating and work areas, a stone-clad buffet line, and bar with metal accents—as well as extensive millwork, tile floors, and custom wood-paneled cloud ceilings. Additional materials were used to create the sleek feel of the space, including glass shelving, stainless steel handrails, and modern light fixtures.
