David began his career at Mortenson as a project engineer in 1991 after serving as a Combat Information Center Officer in the U.S. Navy. He was the project manager on the Company’s first international project and then was the project director on the iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. He managed the Seattle Office through 2007 and returned to company headquarters in Minneapolis to join the company’s senior leadership team where he has overseen various operating businesses and led strategy and growth initiatives.
As a passionate promoter of innovation, David has helped pioneer technology advancements, such as Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), prefabrication and integrated project delivery, helping to make Mortenson a leader in the industry.
Outside of Mortenson, David is an active community member, serving as the Chair of the Itasca Project, a founding board member of Greater MSP, and a trustee of both the Minneapolis Foundation and Minnesota Business Partnership. He also serves as a corporate director with Bedford Technologies and is former president of Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) - Northwest Chapter.
