The National Renewable Energy Laboratory's Science and Technology Facility enhanced research capabilities to meet the U. S. Department of Energy's goal for advancing hydrogen, solar, and other promising clean energy technology research priorities. The U. S. Green Building Council designated the laboratory as one of the most energy-efficient and environmentally friendly places to work in the United States; the facility achieved LEED Platinum status, the first federal laboratory to receive this rating.
