Since May 2001, Mortenson has been managing the the transformation of the former Stapleton International Airport into the Stapleton new-urban, mixed-use redevelopment. More than $570 million in construction has been performed, revitalizing thousands of acres into Denver’s largest urban infill project, which has been recognized as a world-class example of new urbanism. The 4,500 acre site is being transformed into a unique urban development consisting of homes, offices, shops and parks. Stapleton is a network of urban villages, employment centers and significant open spaces. When complete, Stapleton’s will set a new standard for the rebirth of urban America: a new generation of neighborhoods where 30,000 residents and 35,000 workers can call home.
