With over 21 years of construction industry experience and a career devoted to safety, Mel is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating and administering the safety and health programs for Mortenson’s Wisconsin operations. Mel’s has served as a safety leader on projects throughout the country including multiple Ritz Carlton Residences, Miami Performing Arts Center and Midtown Miami, a 72-acre mixed-use, high-rise project in Florida, Ford Field the home the Detroit Lions, and the $915 million, 1.25 million-square-foot Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital in the heart of Chicago. Currently she is responsible for the oversight of multiple projects in Wisconsin for customers including Kohler, Acuity Insurance, Froedtert & the Medical of Wisconsin, St. Camillus, and the Milwaukee Bucks. Mel is an active member of multiple organizations and was honored with the AGC Harvey Peterson Safety Award in 2015 and named the Safety Director of the Year by the Daily Reporter in 2014.  She earned her Associate in Applied Science in Construction Safety from Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and holds certificates in Construction Safety Management and Construction Risk Management from FAU and the International Risk Management Institute.
