St. Francis Regional Medical Center Remodel / ShakopeeMN
What needs to be planned in the preconstruction of a medical center for the growth of the healthcare industry?

Located in the 15th fastest growing county in the U.S., St. Francis Regional Medical Center is making the transition from a small, rural hospital to a suburban medical campus that can handle more patients and offer a broader array of specialty treatments.

A 165,000 square foot expansion and remodel added 26 patient beds and 48,000 square feet to the facility. Included in the project is a new main hospital entrance, emergency/trauma center, cancer center, diagnostic imaging/MRI area, medical laboratory, pharmacy, and intensive care unit. The birthing center was expanded and 10,000 square feet were added to the Emergency Department, with four exam rooms and a new waiting area.

The expansion included a below-grade power plant with space for boilers and electrical upgrades that can support the kind of growth expected through 2025.
