Collaborating to provide a healthy and healing environment
Washburn Center for Children is the state's leading children's mental health center, caring for a wide variety of needs associated with anxiety, depression, learning difficulties, and trauma. The need for a new facility arose as the 132-year-old non-profit doubled the number of children served in the past several years and realized its current facility could not support that growth. In addition, industry trends show that one out of every five Minnesota children will experience mental health challenges, but only 20 percent will receive the help they need.

After a long journey of fundraising, the organization was able to expand its footprint in a new campus that doubles the size of its previous facility. This project is the first mental health facility of its kind in this region. The building houses a training facility, conference rooms, underground parking, and an outdoor playground equipped with interactive play components. The creative use of natural, therapeutic materials will be used to support healing and growth for the children that Washburn serves.
