Safety

Zero Injuries in an integral part of our company culture.

A safe and healthy construction environment protects all team members, minimizes risk to you as the customer and creates mutually beneficial cost savings. Our Zero Injuries program results in:

  • Safe and healthy team members
  • Team member empowerment
  • A higher motivated and productive work force
  • Best quality workmanship
  • Cost-effective projects
  • Better business results

Our program consists of Nine Best Practices:

  • Management commitment
  • Staffing for safety
  • Pre-project and pre-task planning
  • Safety education: orientation and specialized training
  • Worker involvement
  • Safety evaluation and recognition/reward system
  • Subcontractor management
  • Accident and incident analysis
  • Substance abuse program

Industry safety awards recognize and confirm our commitment to safety and health. Since the inception of our zero injuries program in 1995, Mortenson has been recognized many times by construction industry associations and our customers for outstanding safety performance.

Customers and team members acknowledge our commitment to safety. Regardless of domestic or international site locations, or the number or sophistication of subcontractors, we are committed to performing with Zero Injuries.

Your project receives its own site-specific safety plan. Each project site presents different construction risks and challenges, which is why we take a number of steps to proactively prevent injuries.

We encourage team member empowerment through actively caring. We support the Mortenson Safety Leadership Team MSLT, which consists of team members from a variety of positions within the company, all of whom contribute to leading our zero injuries program.
