Partners Plutonic Power Corporation and GE Energy Financial Services selected Mortenson to provide EPC services for the first phase of the 144-megawatt Dokie Wind Project in Chetwynd, British Columbia. GE-Plutonic purchased the partially completed project from EarthFirst Canada, Inc. in November 2009.
The Dokie site is remote, situated in the front range of the Canadian Rockies along Dokie Ridge. This initial phase of the project is part of an overall planned 300-megawatt development. Once completed, the Peace River region will house British Columbia’s largest wind power facility. BC Hydro will buy the power from the first phase under a 25-year energy purchase agreement.
As the EPC contractor, Mortenson erected the remaining Vestas V90 wind turbines and installed the remaining roads, foundations, underground and overhead collection system, transmission line, and project substation.
