Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Electrical Manager with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Electrical Manager will provide electrical technical support throughout the entire construction project.

Responsibilities

A - Provide technical electrical support


1. Identify qualified electrical contractors and engineers and maintain list of areas of their expertise and geographical limits
2. Review design documents to ensure conformance with contract expectations, noting and resolving issues or conflicts that could impact installation or other trades involved with project
3. Review system studies performed by engineer of record, ensuring conformance with contract documents
4. Identify and ensure implementation of standards and low-cost alternatives, ensuring all clients are kept informed of issues affecting their project(s)
5. Develop standard bid package bid form for tower wiring, collection system, substations, T-line, and interconnect
6. Collaborate with other departments to ensure all required materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule
7. Work with Project Manager(s) to budget, forecast, and manage craft labor, equipment, materials, small tools, consumables, and general working environment
8. Review construction documents for completeness and constructability
9. Support the creation, review and update project schedule and 3 week look ahead scheduling
10. Coordinate plans and specifications with engineers, identifying and clarifying any discrepancies
11. Develop and implement site utilization plan and establish crew sizes
12. Select formwork systems and equipment
13. Conduct effective pre-construction planning sessions and project site meetings


B - Provide onsite support to electrical team
1. Manage electrical engineers
2. Provide electrical design and installation support to on-site staff
3. Coach, mentor and train field personnel, forepersons, and assistant superintendents
4. Establish and nurture teamwork environment

5. Ensure crews have resources and support
6. Provide work direction and performance evaluations
7. Identify hiring needs and participate in hiring, discipline, and dismissal decisions if needed
8. Develop leadership potential through appropriate task assignments and career growth opportunities
9. Implement Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety Program at project site
10. Manage open shop and union issues


C. Other duties as assigned
1. Maintain relationships with all visitors to the site: customers, architects, union representatives,
subcontractors, etc.
2. Manage site work and logistics efficiently, providing suggestions for improvement


D. Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels


E. Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performance

Qualifications

A. Knowledge of NEC code and NE safety code
B. Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
C. Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks
D. Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
E. Microsoft Office, Project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level
F. Positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
G. Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
H. Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback
I. Ability to travel up to 100%

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field
B. Minimum eight years electrical construction management and/or electrical design experience
C. Minimum one-year experience with project completion from mobilization to turnover
D. Proficiency in medium and high voltage technical knowledge
E. Specialized knowledge/experience in an area of electrical control, substations, t-line, etc.
F. Current driver’s license
