Responsibilities

Mortenson is currently seeking dynamic and motivated individuals with the ability to work well with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, inventive, proactive and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Our internships grow your skillset with opportunities of focus in a variety of areas. Per this opportunity, we are exclusively seeking interns with a keen interest and affinity to estimating. As our Estimating Intern, you will assist in gathering, calculating, and compiling data in order to produce project estimates.

 Responsibilities:

Organization, flexibility, outstanding customer focus and strong communication are critical in performing duties which include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in creating project estimates
  • Completing quantity takeoffs and summation of materials
  • Assisting in soliciting trade partners, obtaining bid estimates and time projections for preparing vendor proposal comparisons and estimate summary sheets
  • Help in preparing, organizing, and coordinating Request for Proposal documents and schedules, utilizing schedule information to estimate General Contractor's and other schedule-driven items
  • Supporting estimating team in data input into estimating software programs
  • Performing archive filing and historical cost data gathering
  • Participating in plan and estimate review meetings, other project review meetings as needed

Additional Information:

You will join an exciting and ever-changing industry with a minimum 12-week internship with our team. This specific opportunity is a full-time summer internship the summer of 2023.

  • Are currently pursuing an undergraduate, four-year degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Possess the right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer
  • Are available to work full-time (40 hours/week) for the duration of the 12-week internship
  • Are willing to be mobile/relocate
  • Are detail-oriented, organized, and can effectively handle multiple tasks
  • Demonstrate strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills and show initiative
  • Showcase a positive and professional attitude and solid customer service skills
Preferred Skills:

Are you adaptable and an agile learner? Do you have big ideas and a creative spirit? Are you driven to make a positive difference through your work? We want to hear from you. You are perfect for this opportunity if you:

  • Have previous related internship experience
  • Have achieved a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 / 4.0
  • Are currently enrolled as an undergraduate sophomore, junior, or senior
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
