Summary
Join the team committed to developing new ways to build renewable energy. Our Lean team at Mortenson supports our field operations teams on our Solar projects, identifying and implementing ideas to improve the way we work.
Highlights of your internship will include:
Supporting the Lean team with Lean Improvement Events including:
Assisting in planning and event including gathering current state data
Assisting with day-of event logistics
Managing post-event action items including documenting new work practices and collecting post event data
Supporting the project Managing for Daily Improvement data analysis and issue identification on key performance measures for individual crews and project
Assisting project field leaders in resolving issues impacting crew production
Performing work observations to validate adherence to our Mortenson Standard Work Instructions
Documenting and presenting project improvements in standard work
Supporting project teams with implementing our 5S Standards for the project and individual crews

Are currently pursuing an undergraduate, four-year degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Design, Construction Management, Construction, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related degree.
Are willing to be mobile/relocate
Have access to reliable transportation
Possess a current driver’s license
Are comfortable with exposure to dirt, heat, noise, dust, and a trailer office environment
Are detail-oriented, organized, and can effectively handle multiple tasks
Demonstrate strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills and show initiative
Showcase a positive and professional attitude and solid customer service skills
Preferred:
You are perfect for this opportunity if you:
Have a basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing or Construction principles
Have previous related internship experience
Have achieved a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 / 4.0
Additional Information:
You will join an exciting and ever-changing industry with a minimum 12-week internship with our team. This opportunity is full-time (40 hours/week) during the summer of 2024. The internship is in-person, in Texas.
Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. H-1B lottery registration submission and completion of the STEM OPT I-983 training plan are considered sponsorship.
