The project consisted on the complete renovation of 200,000 square feet in the existing factory to accommodate Seagate’s substrates manufacturing process. All existing mechanical and electrical systems were demolished and new mechanical, electrical and process systems were installed. The substrates manufacturing process requires the disc to be sized, ground, annealed, nickel plated, sorted and polished. The work required 30,000 square feet of Class 100 to Class 10,000 cleanroom environments. Major process systems required for the substrates process include an extensive wastewater treatment plant, a large RO/DI system, fume scrubbers, CDA, and chemical distribution system for nickel plating.
