John Michael Kohler Arts Center Community Celebration

The John Michael Kohler Art Preserve team held a community celebration at the future site in Sheboygan. As part of this fun-filled event, attendees could make Art Preserve posters and participate in a LEGO building workshop, where they helped architect John Peine and LEGO expert Sylvia Peine construct a LEGO city! Guests were treated to live music from This Big Life and Josh Harty and The Big Tasty. Food trucks were also on-hand to grab lunch and then dessert was available from the create-your-own sundae bar.

Mortenson provided custom view-finders for guests to virtually see the third floor and main entrance of the Preserve. The virtual mock-ups were well-received, and guests were excited to use the technology.

The John Michael Kohler Arts Center will be a 60,000-square-foot facility located on a 38-acre greenfield site in Sheboygan. The new facility will provide long-term collection storage and will devote as much space as possible for visible storage and art education. The project will also include gallery space, archives storage, photo studio, café, gift shop, classrooms, outdoor sculpture gardens, and administrative offices.
