Mortenson , a top-20 U.S. builder, developer, and engineering services provider with nearly four decades of operations in Denver, was recently recognized at the local and national level with multiple honors highlighting the company’s work on innovative construction projects throughout Colorado and its leadership in advancing opportunities for women in the construction industry.

Mortenson projects received a total of 16 honors, including the Design-Build Institute of America’s (DBIA’s) 2019 National Design-Build Award for Excellence in the Rehabilitation/ Renovation/ Restoration category for the Woodward headquarters renovation in Fort Collins, Colorado.

“At Mortenson, we’re focused on building a culture where everyone is encouraged to re-examine what’s possible – to bring new thinking and contribute diverse perspectives to improve our world and change the way places are built for the better,” said Gene Hodge, vice president and general manager of Mortenson’s Denver office. “Our recent recognition reinforces the importance of that approach. We want to thank our customers, our partners and our dedicated team members for coming together to deliver these game-changing projects and forward-thinking initiatives over the last year.”

In November, Mortenson was named an Industry Trailblazer at the Colorado Women’s Chamber Champions of Change Awards for its work to actively and strategically advance the role of women in construction. Over the last decade, Mortenson has implemented a series of initiatives aimed at dramatically increasing the number of meaningful opportunities for women across the organization, including the formation of its own Women in Construction (WIC) affinity group, and outreach and engagement programs designed to engage youth in the community to continue to build a more diverse pipeline of women in the construction profession.

The Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center – Colorado’s largest combined resort and convention center – earned a total of six recent awards, including ENR Mountain States’ Colorado Project of the Year. The building team on the Gaylord was recognized for construction innovation, safety and teamwork. This project was the largest hotel project built in the United States in 2018, comprising 1,501 rooms, 485,000 square feet of convention center space and an extensive indoor/outdoor water park across an 85-acre site.
