MSOE Alumni Lead Diercks Hall Project

Having partnered with the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) for many years by volunteering in classrooms, supporting Future Builders Days, and mentoring, our Mortenson team members have been actively engaged on many levels. Mortenson is taking this partnership to a new level as we help MSOE grow their campus! Mortenson is currently building MSOE’s Dwight and Dian Diercks Computational Science Hall. Unique to this project is the number of MSOE Alumni that are taking part in its construction including:

  • Rob Myers ’98 AE, construction executive
  • James Ring ’18 CM, field engineer
  • Laura Rudolph ’09 AE/MSEV, MEP manager/data center specialist
  • Jessie Schaefer ’14 CM, CM estimator
  • Mark Schulz ’98 MET, MEP design phase manager
  • Alice Westphal ’01 MET, superintendent
  • Thomas Winchell ’15 AE, project engineer

In addition to our MSOE alumni, Danny O’Brien is serving as project manager, while intern, Brianne Harris (MSOE senior majoring in construction management) is helping with the project. Throughout the project, Mortenson will work closely with MSOE to explore opportunities to get additional MSOE students involved in construction.

Diercks Hall will provide MSOE faculty and students with a space to apply artificial intelligence (AI) and computational science to enhance the current disciplines of study at the university: engineering, business, nursing, mathematics, and user experience. The $34 million project is scheduled for completion before the Fall 2019 academic year.
