Rachel Airhart

Rachel is currently working as an engineering intern on the Sanford Fargo Medical Center project. Her focus has been on inspections but due to the project size she has also had the opportunity to get involved with many different aspects of the project. Additionally, she is responsible for recording information at on-site meetings, which has allowed her the opportunity to be in attendance at the gatherings, gaining detailed insight into the project.

Rachel is originally from Milaca, Minnesota. She is a sophomore at North Dakota State University and is pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. Rachel is involved in Chi Alpha and the Society of Women Engineers on campus and in her free time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outside, exercising, and reading.

Her favorite aspect of Mortenson so far is the people that she gets to work with every day. Rachel hopes to keep interning with Mortenson in the future and be able to learn as much as she can from the company. “I am very thankful for the opportunity to work and learn at Mortenson. They have wonderful people and I am very happy to be part of the team.”

Mia Sheppard

Mia is an Engineering Intern from Purdue University where she studies Construction Engineering. Since the Sanford Fargo Medical Center is in its final stages of completion, Mia is able to get involved in many different areas around the jobsite and in the office. Her focus has been responding to punch lists, closeout, and requests for information items.

“I chose to work with Mortenson because they are one of the top construction companies in the industry and due to their use of state-of-the-art technology that helps them to build safer, smarter, and faster” says Mia. “I’m very grateful to have this opportunity and excited to see what more Mortenson has to offer for the rest of this summer!”

Mia is originally from South Bend, Indiana. She is heavily involved in her chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers and the Minority Engineering Program at Purdue. In her free time Mia enjoys playing volleyball and watching the latest movies.
