MPS Students Visit Mortenson Jobsite to Learn About Construction Industry

As a community steward, Mortenson participated in hosting a group of 7th graders from the Milwaukee Public Schools to learn more about what we do. Rather than have the students tour our Brookfield office, they visited the Froedtert project team on the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Center for Advanced Care site. The tours are organized through the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC) Council of Small Business Executives (COSBE).

Students not only learned about Mortenson’s services, but also got the chance to learn about the many jobs and careers within our industry. Our team helped students and teachers see what skills and areas of education are essential for success in architecture, construction, and healthcare careers.  The team shared a brief presentation about Mortenson and allowed the students to learn first-hand about Building Information Modeling by viewing models on iPads. The day concluded with a tour of the 7th and 8th floors of CFAC and a visit from Froedtert’s vice president of facility & development, John Balzer.

The MMAC's Council of Small Business Executives (COSBE) is led by CEOs from a diverse group of small business manufacturers and service companies throughout the four-county area.
