Parking Ramp Construction
State of Minnesota Parking Ramp Construction / Saint PaulMN
What do you do when a essential parking services will be interrupted?
The State of Minnesota learned that a long-time lease for 635 parking spaces on a nearby commercial parking lot neighboring the Minnesota Capitol Complex would be coming to an end. With a quickly approaching lease-end date, the State needed to quickly identify alternatives for employees and contract workers. Visitors and those who needed disability access would also be affected since adjacent lots on the complex would be impacted by identified alternatives.

Mortenson was brought on to the team as a design-build partner - the first project of this size and scale using this delivery method - after two lots were identified for immediate development. In a short 16 months, a new four-level, 532-stall parking ramp was built that was conveniently positioned between two major state office buildings. It embraces the aesthetic feel of the historic campus while enhancing access for visitors, employees, and legislators.
