Fiserv Forum Arena Construction / MilwaukeeWI
How do you build a fan-focused sports arena?

Home to the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks and Marquette University Men’s Basketball, Fiserv Forum is a multi-purpose arena that serves as the cornerstone of sports and entertainment in downtown Milwaukee. The arena provides a superb fan experience via open concourses, social spaces in view of the action, and a variety of experiential and premium seating options. A public-private partnership, Fiserv Forum was built for the community, and boasts an intimate seating configuration with most of the seats in the lower bowl.

During preconstruction, the Mortenson team worked with the design team to evaluate the efficiency of a recessed event floor versus having it at grade. After considering many factors such as the foundations and high water table, exterior enclosure impacts, vertical circulation and the fan experience, it was determined the project could save nearly $30M by not recessing the event floor. Today, the eye-catching facade features an immense wall of glass that reveals the activity going on inside the arena.

Mortenson also installed the arena's distributed antenna system (DAS), improving the fan experience by ensuring fans always have a signal to their phone. Working closely with both the owner and operator of the DAS and the provider to coordinate the installation of the 400+ antennas, miles of conduit and cabling, and all the associated equipment required allowed Mortenson to integrate the installation with the master construction schedule. Further, Mortenson was able to hide or disguise nearly all the antennas and conduit, such that there are virtually no visible antennas in the arena.
