The University’s relationship with Mortenson is nearly a century strong; 100-year old Hilding Mortenson, a bricklayer that worked on Memorial Stadium back in 1924, had the honor of placing the first brick of TCF Bank Stadium.
TCF Bank Stadium serves as home to the University of Minnesota Gopher Football team. The open-air stadium features a horseshoe-shaped bowl, 50,000 seats, 36 private suites, 750 loge seats, 300 indoor club seats, 1,250 outdoor club seats, and a 30,000 square foot indoor club.
Mortenson also installed the stadium’s DAS (Distributed Antenna System), electrical power distribution, medium voltage switchgear and cabling, emergency generator, lighting, sports lighting, power receptacles, lightning protection, premise wiring, SMATV cabling, sound system equipment & cabling, broadcast cabling, security systems and the fire alarm system.
In 2013, the University selected Mortenson to make NFL regulation upgrades which allowed the Minnesota Vikings to play two seasons at TCF Bank Stadium during construction of the team's new stadium.
