In his role as General Manager, Darren is the leader of  Mortenson’s federal contracting team, helping our customers redefine what’s possible for their projects and enabling the success of their mission, as well as fostering collaborative partnerships with our trade partners and design teams.

Darren graduated Iowa State University in 1996 with a  B.S. in Construction Engineering.  After starting out his career as a Superintendent for a local General Contractor in central Iowa, Darren joined Mortenson in 1998 as a site supervisor with our Communication Technologies Group, progressing from site superintendence to project engineering and project management at numerous locations around the United States.  Darren joined the Federal Contracting Group in 2006, leading several successful projects for the group across multiple states, including the $140 million Fort Bliss, Texas Company Operations Facilities and the $40 million 1st Infantry Headquarters in Ft. Riley, Kansas.  Darren moved to Minneapolis in 2013 and has been an important part of federal contracting's leadership team for several years, serving as a Project Executive and Director of Preconstruction, overseeing the design phase and business development functions of the business.
