Mortenson's preconstruction effort was excellent and our overall satisfaction level was very high - outstanding effort, responsiveness, timeliness and quality of response. Coordination and communication with EDFs development team to solve problems, effectively, in real-time was extremely well done.

The Bobcat Bluff Wind Project, located in Archer City, Texas consists of 100 GE 1.5 MW turbines capable of producing up to 150 MW of electrical power. Mortenson’s scope of work on the Bobcat Bluff project included the construction of 24 miles of access roads, foundation construction, turbine erection, 138 kV substation, 58 miles of underground collection, and design and construction of the O&M facility.

During construction, turbine parts were delivered before foundations were complete, and on some sites while foundation holes were open. A part laydown and delivery plan was created for each turbine site and adhering to the laydown plan allowed the project team to unload only one time and keep parts in place until erection.

Through the duration of the project, Mortenson and its trade partners employed approximately 100 Texas residents. It is estimated that over $2,600,000 in cumulative dollars were paid to local businesses and approximately $8,200,000 were paid to other business throughout the state as a result of the construction of the project.
