Community Engagement and Impact in Denver

Focused partnerships. Employee‑driven impact. Long-term community value.

Passionate about the communities we work in.

Mortenson’s Denver team is committed to strengthening the communities where we live and work through long term partnerships, employee led service, and focused investment in organizations that deliver meaningful, measurable impact. Our approach centers on sustained community relationships, hands on engagement, and leadership that connects construction to lasting social benefit across the Denver region.

There is no greater gift we can give others than our time and treasure. We do so enthusiastically, with a smile on our face and delight in our eyes.

Denver Annual Charity Golf Tournament

The annual Denver charity golf tournament is a cornerstone of local community impact efforts. As the operating group’s largest fundraising event, it brings together employees, partners, and industry collaborators in support of a shared goal: strengthening communities through collective action.

Proceeds from the tournament directly support the current Community Impact Partner and help fund programs focused on health, stability, and opportunity across the region.

Broader Community Partnerships

Beyond its primary Community Impact Partner, the Denver team supports a broad network of local and regional nonprofits through charitable giving, volunteering, sponsorships, employee match programs, and the Do Something Good campaign.

These efforts extend across healthcare, education, youth development, mental health, food insecurity, housing stability, arts and culture, and workforce readiness. Together, they allow community needs to be addressed from multiple angles while empowering employees to support causes that matter most to them. Strong communities are built through sustained nonprofit partnerships and shared commitment at every level.

Education and Workforce Engagement

Exposure, access, and education play a critical role in shaping the future workforce. Throughout Denver, education and industry engagement efforts focus on creating pathways into construction, engineering, real estate, and related fields while supporting leadership development at every stage.

Annual Women in Construction Week

Each year, Women in Construction Week provides an opportunity to recognize contributions across the industry while reinforcing the importance of inclusion, mentorship, and leadership development. The Denver team marked the 2026 event through employee‑led programming focused on connection, learning, and professional engagement, including hosted conversations, participation in industry events, and internal forums that highlighted diverse career pathways. This year’s industry event also supported the Women’s Foundation of Colorado as the designated beneficiary.

ACE Mentor Program

The ACE Mentor Program of Colorado introduces high school students to careers in architecture, construction, and engineering through hands‑on learning and mentorship, helping strengthen the future industry workforce.

Through the annual Ace for ACE fundraiser, local industry partners come together to support ACE programming and scholarship opportunities. This effort raised more than $12,000 and funds a $10,000 scholarship awarded to a student pursuing a future in the built environment, helping strengthen the next generation of industry professionals.

Hispanic Contractors of Colorado

The Denver team also engages with Hispanic Contractors of Colorado (HCC), a leading nonprofit organization focused on strengthening connections, access, and opportunity within the construction industry. HCC supports contractors, designers, and service providers through education, networking, and industry engagement that help small and diverse firms build capacity and compete effectively on commercial and public projects across the region.

Supporting Youth and Emerging Leaders

Additional education and leadership initiatives focus on expanding access to career exploration and professional development for students and early‑career professionals.

Team members volunteer with Girls Inc. of Metro Denver, including participation in the Movement Conference, where professionals connect with youth to share career insights, leadership experiences, and pathways into business and technical fields.

Support also extends to CREW Denver, a leading professional organization that fosters leadership development, networking, career outreach, and industry engagement within commercial real estate.

Employee Leadership and Volunteerism

Community impact is driven by people willing to lead beyond the jobsite. Across the Denver Operating Group, employees contribute time, expertise, and hands‑on service in support of community priorities.

Each year, team members collectively contribute hundreds of volunteer hours through efforts that include:

  • Supporting affordable housing initiatives with Habitat for Humanity
  • Building furniture for residents at Uptown Apartments through Mile High United Way
  • Participating in education and mentorship programs that connect industry professionals with youth and emerging leaders
  • Provide labor and support for food packaging and sorting for Foodbank of the Rockies and packing PowerSacks to close the weekend hunger gap for Denver’s food insecure children with Food for Thought

United Way

Since 1955, United Way has been a long‑standing partner, reflecting a shared commitment to stewardship, teamwork, and service. In Denver, collaboration with United Way has remained a consistent opportunity for team members to support stability‑focused initiatives since the office opened in 1981.
